The 2008 Charlotte Literary Festival will take place September 6th in Uptown Charlotte at the Charlotte Convention Center.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The Charlotte Literary Festival is an annual event held in Charlotte, NC that focuses on both youth and adult literacy. The festival hosts a myriad of local, regional and national authors from various genres.   The 2008 Charlotte Literary Festival will take place September 6th in Uptown Charlotte. This year the festival will have 7 speakers, 6 New York best-selling authors, 2 bands, an Author's Lane with local and self-published authors over 40 vendors and of course the Kid's Corner which will include an arts and craft fair as well as storytellers and live entertainment.   Your corporation/organization is cordially invited to participate in the 2008 Charlotte Literary Festival.

Our mission at The Charlotte Literary Festival is to foster an atmosphere of unity, awareness and growth, through literature, art and culture.

The Charlotte Literary Festival is rapidly becoming one of Charlotte's elite attractions and soon to be one of the top Cultural events in the United States. This will be our third year and we are continuing to grow and reach an even broader cross section of the Metrolina region. In 2007 we moved from our inaugural location in the NoDa district (North Davidson) to Uptown at the Blake Hotel. Our attendance has also grown by approximately 30%.

During our previous years we have received a tremendous amount of community and corporate support. In addition to the spectacular array if authors, speakers and performances of previous years this year will bring a new program, "Kick-Off to Writing". The Charlotte Literary Festival already has a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors. The first two scholarships will be awarded in 2008 to seniors who have been accepted into college and declared English or Journalism as their course of study.   The Kick Off to Writing program takes us into the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools providing an incentive for students at all levels to write. It is our hope that those entities that have supported CLF in the past will continue to do so as we grow and that we are able to build new relationships that contribute to a greater outreach.
